Lormelyn Claudio set a winning mood at the kickoff of the 4th Regional Management Conference at Seasonβs Hotel, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro. San Jose Mayor Rey Ladaga graced the event and thanked the team for their support to the efforts of the LGU in protecting and conserving the environment.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources- MIMAROPA Region was one with the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Department of Agriculture in advocating collective environmental conservation efforts through the nationwide simultaneous tree planting activity on September 13, 2022.
Guided by the event theme, "Buhayin ang Pangangalaga sa Kalikasan," DENR MIMAROPA officials and employees extended their full support to the local DILG and DA offices in the preparation of seedlings and identified planting sites, mobilization of participants and press people and during the actual planting activity.
A total of 1, 940 volunteers from Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan participated in the event.
Also in celebration of the Philippine Bamboo Month, an estimate of 6,300 seedlings of bamboo, narra, Palawan cherry, Golden Shower, Caballero and Banaba were planted in a total area of 10.25 hectares across MIMAROPA.
Meanwhile, Regional Executive Director Lormelyn Claudio led the tree planting activity in Marinduque, which was also celebrating the 122nd anniversary of "Laban sa Pulang Lupa."
In a simple program before the tree planting, the Director shared how she admired the breathtaking sceneries of the province and encouraged its residents to continue being an influence in the shared responsibility to take care of the environment and natural resources.
Present during the program were Governor Presbitero Velasco, Jr., Boac Mayor Armi Carrion, PENRO Imelda Diaz, and the rest of the PENRO Marinduque officials and staff.
As we celebrate the International Youth Day, we recognize the participation of the youth across the MIMAROPA Region who have been enthusiastic and supportive in the implementation of the Department's programs and continuously advocating for environmental protection, conservation, and education.
July 21, 2022. The five island provinces of DENR MIMAROPA, namely Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan converged via zoom to welcome and congratulate the new DENR Chief, Secretary Ma. Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga.
Led by Regional Executive Director Lormelyn Claudio, who attended the program at the DENR Central Office, all officials and employees of the region came together online and took to heart the five points stressed by the new environment secretary:
1. Emphasize the crucial role of the agency in the accounting of natural resources of the country; 2. Build resilient communities; 3. Work with our cities, ensure social and inclusive development 4. Combat climate emergency; and 5. Strive to protect indigenous species
