Check out the photos of our forest rangers highlighting some of the flora and fauna found within the Malampaya Sound Protected Landscape and Seascape (MSPLS) in Palawan. The photos were captured during the rangers’ regular conduct of Landscape and Wildlife Indicator (LAWIN) patrol.
According to MSPLS Superintendent Clarissa Pador, some of the species discovered in the protected area are not identified yet, thus collaboration and cooperation for identification and cataloguing of existing species in MSPLS with experts and scientists are highly valued and significant.
The MSPLS was established under the National Integrated Protected Area System (NIPAS) Act or Republic Act 7586 by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 342 dated July 12, 2000. It has an area of 200, 115 hectares: 88, 115 hectares of terrestrial and 111, 339 hectares of marine environments. It covers 18 barangays under the administrative jurisdiction of Taytay and four barangays within the Municipality of San Vicente, Palawan.

The DENR MIMAROPA takes pride in presenting AudioVisual Presentations (AVPs) of protected areas in our region. These films contain the brief profile of the PAs, the ecological and economic benefits we derived from them, as well as the tourist attraction sites that have been the source of pride not only of our region, but also of the entire nation. Also part of the video was the concerted efforts made by the DENR and the stakeholders in upholding the ecological integrity of these PAs.
Through these videos, we aim to promote ecotourism, raise the level of awareness and engage the public in fulfilling the shared responsibility to conserve and protect these PAs, which embody nature at its finest.
Come and join us in this virtual travel to MIMAROPA’s protected areas.
