Members of the Mangyan tribe in Oriental Mindoro received Original Certificate of Titles (OCTs) during the Handog Titulo program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources โ€“ MIMAROPA Region, in Socorro, Oriental Mindoro, January 15.
 
DENR MIMAROPA Regional Executive Director Felix Mirasol, Jr., described the activity as a whole of government approach, in which he underscored the efforts of each of the officials present in making the program successful and felt by the Indigenous Peoples (IP) community โ€”Representative Arnan Panaligan, Socorro Mayor Nemmen Perez, Register of Deeds Atty. Ethel Regadio, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Mike Jumig, Provincial Police Director Col. Samuel Delorino and Bgy. Fortuna Punong Barangay Restituto Morfe. Officials and employees from the DENR in Oriental Mindoro headed by PENRO Alan Valle, Socorro CENRO Rodel Boyles and Roxas CENRO Caesar Quebec, were also in full force to ensure the smooth and organized distribution of the land titles.
A total of 50 OCTs were distributed, 49 of which were handed over to the Mangyans who have walked a considerable distance and crossed three rivers in order to attend the program and receive their own land titles.
