From Department of Environment, Energy and Natural Resources, it was renamed as Department of Environment and Natural Resources by virtue of Executive Order No. 192 under the Presidency of Corazon C. Aquino dated June 10, 1987. This Reorganization Act established the Department’s mandate and define the structures and functions/concerns of its various officers, staff bureaus, attached agencies and field officers consisting Regional, Provincial and Community Offices.
DENR Romblon by virtue also of the same Executive Order, was established by the merger of Bureau of Forestry and the Bureau of Land District Office. It was in 1979 when the Bureau of Forestry also known to be Bureau of Forest Development (BFD) constructed its building, now the PENR Office, at its present site in Brgy. Tabing Dagat, Odiongan, Romblon. The Bureau of Lands Building was constructed in the mid 70’s at a portion of the Old Barracks during the Japanese Regime of the Philippine Constabulary Compound at Brgy. Tabing Dagat and became the CENR Office during the merging.
As the Department celebrates 34th Anniversary, DENR PENRO Romblon with the leadership of PENR Officer Maximo C. Landrito is taking a stand to cope up with the ever-changing challenge on the environment.
Amidst the restrictions brought by covid-19 pandemic, PENRO Romblon personnel celebrates the 34th Anniversary with a simple activity following the minimum health standard. As kick off activity, an opening program was held at PENR Office in the morning. During the program, participants of Environmental Quiz Bee from different sectors were introduced. Art Gallery featuring different flora and fauna of Mt. Guiting-Guiting Natural Park and CALSANAG Watershed Forest Reserve were also formally launch at the PENR Office.
After the program follows the first ever Environmental Quiz Bee of PENRO Romblon. There were 14 participants representing different sectors which all were eager to get the prize. The Quiz-Tions were categorized as Easy, Average and Difficult but at the end of the quiz bee, Ms. Jennifer R. Lucas got the title of 1st environmental Quiz Bee in PENRO Romblon.###
