As part of the objectives of the Tayo ang Kalikasan (TAK) advocacy to build partnerships and mobilize the community in conserving and protecting the environment, DENR CENRO Socorro with the assistance of DENR PENRO Oriental Mindoro and Regional Office conducted a Lecture on Marine Turtle Conservation and Salient Features of R.A. 9147 or Wildlife Act via zoom last May 28, 2021in celebration of Month of the Ocean.
Part of the priority programs of the Tayo ang Kalikasan is to conduct activities that promotes clean air and clean water for our environment. In order to instill in the minds of the youth and develop their awareness on environmental concerns, the “Environment and Natural Resource (ENR) Ambassadors” were established based on the Restoration, Rehabilitation, and Development (PRRD) created under DENR Special Order No. 2017-974. Members of the youth-student sector were selected to take part in the mobilization of the community towards the conservation, protection and rehabilitation of natural resources.
To support this program, students and faculty members under the Bachelor of Science Environmental Science and BS Agriculture of Mindoro State University (MinSU) were invited to an online lecture on the Salient Features of Wildlife Act citing the different sections containing the protection of wildlife like marine turtles and illegal acts with corresponding penalties.
