Regional Executive Director Lormelyn E. Claudio, PENRO Ernesto Tañada and CENRO Efren Delos Reyes led the team of DENR MIMAROPA to survey areas in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro and determine the extent of damages brought by Typhoon Paeng, which put the province under Signal No. 3 on October 29. The team also checked if there were felled trees and other debris that needed to be cleared off the roads.

Upon instructions of RED Claudio earlier, PENROs in MIMAROPA Region have already coordinated with the Provincial and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices as regards the status of lifelines, roads and bridges, communication lines and electric facilities in their respective areas of responsibility.

While most provinces suffered from flooding, the PENROs reported that as of October 29, all roads were passable and that clearing operations were immediately conducted. Communication lines were functional but mobile lines and internet connectivity were unstable.

The provinces of Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro and Marinduque reported power interruption that starts from around 6:00 to 9:00 am.

RED Claudio also directed all field officials to have their teams ready for dispatch to assist the LGU and communities affected by the typhoon.

Meanwhile, RED Claudio also inspected Caguray, Busuanga, Lumintao, Labangan and Anahawin rivers in view of DENR Administrative Order No. 2020-12, which rationalizes dredging activities in heavily silted river channels in the province of Occidental Mindoro to restore their natural state and flow, and reduce flooding.
