CENRO PPC bags the crown for Mutya ng Kalikasan

mutya winner 2016-1 copyNova Bille Garcellano, representative of the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Puerto Princesa City (PPC), bagged the crown for the Mutya ng Kalikasan MIMAROPA 2016 last June 23, 2016 at The Legend Hotel, Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

The 28 year old CENRO PPC representative emerged as the second Mutya ng Kalikasan MIMAROPA after besting the other fifteen candidates from the regional and field offices. Trailing her was the representative from the Regional Office- Management Services, Jane Darilyn Jatulan, who also won the Best in Creative Gown, Best in Long Gown, and Miss Photogenic awards. Followed by Aijeleth Masangkay from CENRO Socorro, Oriental Mindoro (2nd runner-up and Best in Swimwear), Roanne Pearl Tejada from CENRO Coron, Palawan (3rd runner-up), Engeelyn Dalinog from CENRO Taytay, Palawan (4th runner-up), and Gayezel Mae De Guzman from CENRO San Jose, Occidental Mindoro (5th runner-up).

mutya winner 2016-2 copyThe annual pageant, which was launched last 2015 as a platform to promote the different projects of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and to raise awareness on environmental issues, was adjudged by the Assistant Secretary for Field Operations of DENR, Marcial C. Amaro, Jr., the Puerto Princesa City Environment and Natural Resources Officer, Atty. Carlo Gomez, the first runner-up of the Mutya ng Palawan 2014, Mary Abbygaille Jane Tinay, the President of the Palawan Tourism Council, Deborah Q. Tan, and the Center Head of the Land Management Agroforestry and Upland Farming Technology Research Center (LAUFTeRC) of the Ecosystem Research and Development Bureau (ERDB), Lucena U. Mercado.

Special Awards were also given to Michelle Macariola of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Marinduque who received the People’s Choice Award, Marivic Oriendo of PENRO Romblon as Miss Friendship, Rhomela Sotelo of CENRO Roxas, Oriental Mindoro as Best in Talent, and Karla Bianca Ocampo of CENRO Brooke’s Point, Palawan as Best in Sportswear.

Miss Garcellano, whose advocacy is centered on the protection, rehabilitation, and sustainable management of the environment and natural resources especially in PPC, and the rest of the candidates of the Mutya ng Kalikasan MIMAROPA 2016 will serve as the Youth Desk Officers of their respective offices.
