Gender and Development (GAD) Accomplishment
In solidarity with the women of the world, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources MIMAROPA celebrated the Women's Month by participating in the events of the National Government and organizing series of lecture under the Regional Gender and Development Focal Point System (RGADFPS) headed by the Regional Chair of GAD, Forester Consuelo M. Matundan.
The 2015 theme is "Juana, Desisyon Mo ay MahalagasaKinabukasan ng Bawat Isa, Ikaw Na!" According to the Philippine Commission on Women, this theme enjoins all “Juanas” to stand and break through fear and self-doubt as fear is the root of many barriers that women face – the fear of being not liked, the fear of making the wrong choice, the fear of drawing negative attention, the fear of being judged, the fear of failure and the fear of being a bad mother or wife or daughter. Juanas hold themselves back in ways both big and small. By lacking self-confidence, by not raising their hands, and by pulling back when they should be leaning in. Moreover, it calls that all “Juans” to support “Juanas” as they aspire to become leaders.
In line with this celebration, the DENR MIMAROPA's RGADFPS slated the following undertakings: GAD Secretariat commenced this month long activity on 02 March 2015 by posting event streamers, information on bulletin boards and conduct of announcements to its employees as well as to the offices throughout the region.
Republic Act 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women (MCW) promotes the full participation and equitable representation of women in all spheres of society, particularly in the decision-making and policy-making processes in government and private entities, in order to fully realize their role as agents and beneficiaries of development.
