DENR-CENRO CORON Activities for the
Celebration of the Month of the Ocean and
International Day for Biological Diversity

In celebration with the Month of the Ocean (MOO), with the theme “Biodiversity for Food SeaCUREity,” and the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDBD), with the theme, “Mainstreaming Biodiversity: Sustaining People and their livelihoods,” the Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENR) Office of Coron, led by CENR Officer Eriberto B. Saños conducted cleanup activities last May 21, 2016 at Gutchie Falls and Pupualan River, both in Barangay Decalachao, Coron, Palawan and are within the Busuanga Pasture Reserve (BPR).

During the cleanup activities, CENR Officer Saños emphasized the value of biodiversity. A lecture on Climate Change was also conducted by Saños a day before the said cleanup activity which was participated by the personnel of CENRO-CORON.

Book lauds island conservation efforts DENR MIMAROPA

June 16, 2017, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources - MIMAROPA Region launches today the coffee table book “Apo Reef Natural Park, the Rising Jewel of the Deep” to immortalize the grandeur of the island paradise and showcase the concerted efforts of the government and stakeholders to protect the island’s unique biodiversity.

The Apo Reef Natural Park is located 33 kilometers off the coast of Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro and covers 27, 469 hectares of diverse flora and fauna. It is also one of the 240 protected areas in the country identified in the National Integrated Protected Areas System (NIPAS) Act of 1992.
